Short & Sweet Style Wrap #23

Paper queen Cristina Re now offers high tea, crafty workshops called the Papercraft Academy in her flagship Collingwood store ‘Where a Girl Goes’. Good for crafty types or making your own invites or cards for big events. Call to book your group.

Drink Me Alice designer jewellery has a shiny new website to check out and ponder over for gift ideas (have a feeling I am now in need of the Alice with the fawn pendant).

I was recently (very lucky to be) invited to taste test some potential new cupcake flavours for Sugadeaux. My favourites were the Strawberry shortcake (simple perfection) and the caramel popcorn (fun). Other flavours to try out now are raspberry white chocolate, toffee apple,  licorice (try it, I dare you, it’s surprisingly elegant) and chocolate crackle.

Off topic but on Sunday, as per tradition, I ate one of their chai spiced cupcakes that I’d saved for a year after my wedding (in the freezer). Now it’s typical to save fruit cake this way but the cupcake also held up impressively well!

The NGV has some great fashion-y events happening. At 12.30pm this Friday 4th December at the NGV International’s exhibition space on level 2 there will be a free introduction to their new display Drape: Classical Mode to Contemporary Dress which opens tomorrow.

Or, on Saturday the 5th same time and place, Kiwi designers Nom*D will be chatting about the Together Alone fashion exhibit.

Neverending openings. Somewhere has opened at Level 2 314 Little Collins Street (in Royal Arcade) for your Swedish fashion design needs.

Limedrop pop-up shop and Acne have opened at Melbourne’s GPO. Alexi Freeman is soon to open a pop-up there too in the next week or so.

Arnsdorf have their own new pop-up at 69 Gertrude Street in Fitzroy.

My Bag Spa opened in Suite 15 on the top floor at 108 Bourke Street for those of you who have luxury label handbags in need of a little TLC spit and polish.

To shopping on the internets…Heidi & Seek now have your ethical and quirky cute fashion desires sorted after opening their online store. And Friend of Mine have also opened an online store. One ‘City of Angels’ dress please!

More gift-shopping opportunities abound at No Vacancy Gallery’s Art Market at QV Square (check out QV’s snazzy new website).  Find handmade art, design, books, jewellery and fashion. It’s on this Friday 4th through Sunday 6th December from 11am to 6pm.

Sportsgirl have announced they will be collaborating with The Cassette Society along with locals Alpha60 and Kim Ellery (of ace label Ellery) in early 2010.
