Sybilla Deen for Forever newForever New has appointed a new ambassador for the label this month in the form of rising actress Sibylla Deen. The International Modelling and Talent Association Actor of the Year Award winner will soon be spied in several episodes of Gossip Girl and no doubt wearing a lot of Forever New‘s affordable chic pieces (excuse me while I get distracted looking at the pretty snaps of their latest collection – occupational hazard). Sibylla will also be back in Australia for LMFF next March.

The much loved Melbourne Design Market returns, to save your Xmas shopping souls (and soles), for the 10th time on Sunday 6th December. You’ll find it in Federation Square’s undercover car park from 10am til 5pm. Paella and coffee will nurture you while you hunt down the best designer items.

Hello Sailor Vintage Fair comes to the Grace DarlingThe Hello Sailor Vintage Fair tries on a new outfit on Saturday the 28th and Sunday 29th of November as it is held at the Grace Darling hotel (114 Smith Street, Fitzroy) for the first time. Discover jewellery, clothing, art, homewares etc…

The National Gallery of Victoria has some wonderful events happening; meet the genius MaterialByProduct team next Thursday 19th from 6pm and view a preview of the next collection and how they put it all together. Tickets are $25 including two glasses of wine. Phone 03 8662 1555 to book and they’ll let you in on the secret details then. Or see Akira Isogawa in conversation for nix at the Ian Potter Center at NGV Australia Fed Square on Friday 27th November at 1pm in conjuction with the Together Alone exhibition of Oz and NZ fashion. Afterwards will be a separate event (that also repeats sans the man himself on Sunday the 29th); a double movie Akira mini film festival!

Love this Sportsgirl jacketI’m so in love with this piece dubbed the ‘Annie Showstopper jacket’ which is the latest from Sportsgirl‘s Castaway collection. With the pastel embroidery and subtle sparkle, it’s softly tailored and embellished – such a winner for a summer evening wardrobe! Must hunt it down asap.

The <insert name here> pop-up store will be open for a little longer than planned in the Georges on Collins building. Plus they have some new residents – Eva Q Designs and T-shirt Garage so very handy for the holiday season if you need a fab party dress for yourself or inventive jewellery or kitschy tees for gifts!

One of my fave places for an evening tipple Trunk (275 Exhibition street) is celebrating rosé wines for summer with their Rosé in the Garden project. They will be rotating more than 40 of the pink-tinged wines through the menu from now throughout the hotter season.

Ryan Whelan, Bonsai and Alexi Belcher create a Spring racing dressWould be lovely to have a team of designers at your disposal to whip you up a custom gown for big events like Cinderella has in the form of those dexterous Disney fairies. So Alex Davis must have felt quite spoilt as designer Ryan Whelan, street artist Bonsai and milliner/designer Alexis Belcher (who made my very cool perspex races headpiece) took on the task to create her Stakes Day outfit. See the results, inspired by a blackbird theme, below.

The new Chadstone is nearly here!Hands up who else can’t wait to see Chadstone Shopping Centre finally finished!? The luxury portion is due to open next Wednesday the 18th including labels like Louis Vuitton (more news on that very soon), Australia’s first Miu Miu, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Pepe Jeans which we’ve already given you a peek
at. They will be celebrating all day from 9am until 10pm over 530 stores. Just 5 days to go! There will also be exhibitions and art installations to sate your intellectual side – details coming soon.

And just finally, as we wrap up our Spring Racing Carnival coverage, our friends at Bright Young Things send over some happy snaps of how they spent their Stakes Day in style to take a peek at. Some inspiration for next year perhaps?! Even if you didn’t win on the horses you could bet the menu would have been fabulous. I think the delicious shots are worthy of being published in a lifestyle magazine.
