For many, not my strictly pale self, summer means fake tan time (smart!) But who wants to ruin their lovely silk 1000 thread count sheet with faux glow? Dr. Glow presents a Sheet Saver in a soft grey or gelati colours that quickly fits over your precious sheets and pillows so you can sleep soundly. Just whip the Sheet Saver off and throw it in the wash the next day.
I can’t wait to see sosume‘s venture into menswear for Autumn Winter 2010. Still wish I had snapped up the eco-concious label’s grey marle godess dress before it sold out so hopefully they can produce the same great shapes for guys.
Forever New has appointed a new ambassador for the label this month in the form of rising actress Sibylla Deen. The International Modelling and Talent Association Actor of the Year Award winner will soon be spied in several episodes of Gossip Girl and no doubt wearing a lot of Forever New‘s affordable chic pieces (excuse me while I get distracted looking at the pretty snaps of their latest collection – occupational hazard). Sibylla will also be back in Australia for LMFF next March.
The much loved Melbourne Design Market returns, to save your Xmas shopping souls (and soles), for the 10th time on Sunday 6th December. You’ll find it in Federation Square’s undercover car park from 10am til 5pm. Paella and coffee will nurture you while you hunt down the best designer items.

I’m so in love with this piece dubbed the ‘Annie Showstopper jacket’ which is the latest from Sportsgirl‘s Castaway collection. With the pastel embroidery and subtle sparkle, it’s softly tailored and embellished – such a winner for a summer evening wardrobe! Must hunt it down asap.
The <insert name here> pop-up store will be open for a little longer than planned in the Georges on Collins building. Plus they have some new residents – Eva Q Designs and T-shirt Garage so very handy for the holiday season if you need a fab party dress for yourself or inventive jewellery or kitschy tees for gifts!
Scoot over to Bloom at 574a Chapel Street in South Yarra Saturday 14th and you can exchange any old lip gloss that you’re struggling to get through for a lovely new Bloom Daily Shield Lip Balm. Great for summer as it has an SPF 30+. Tomorrow only!
One of my fave places for an evening tipple Trunk (275 Exhibition street) is celebrating rosé wines for summer with their Rosé in the Garden project. They will be rotating more than 40 of the pink-tinged wines through the menu from now throughout the hotter season.
Would be lovely to have a team of designers at your disposal to whip you up a custom gown for big events like Cinderella has in the form of those dexterous Disney fairies. So Alex Davis must have felt quite spoilt as designer Ryan Whelan, street artist Bonsai and milliner/designer Alexis Belcher (who made my very cool perspex races headpiece) took on the task to create her Stakes Day outfit. See the results, inspired by a blackbird theme, below.

Hands up who else can’t wait to see Chadstone Shopping Centre finally finished!? The luxury portion is due to open next Wednesday the 18th including labels like Louis Vuitton (more news on that very soon), Australia’s first Miu Miu, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Tiffany & Co. and Pepe Jeans which we’ve already given you a peek
at. They will be celebrating all day from 9am until 10pm over 530 stores. Just 5 days to go! There will also be exhibitions and art installations to sate your intellectual side – details coming soon.
And just finally, as we wrap up our Spring Racing Carnival coverage, our friends at Bright Young Things send over some happy snaps of how they spent their Stakes Day in style to take a peek at. Some inspiration for next year perhaps?! Even if you didn’t win on the horses you could bet the menu would have been fabulous. I think the delicious shots are worthy of being published in a lifestyle magazine.Akira Isogawa, alexis belcher, bloom, Chadstone, fed square, forever new, friends of couture, market, material by product, materialbyproduct, ryan whelan, sibylla deen, sosume, Sportsgirl, Vintage, WGSN
