I simply love this time of year. Committed atheist that I am I still love the sparkling tinsel, the good cheer (admittedly that usually appears in the form of eggnog or my mum’s champagne punch) and just the general good will towards everyone.
I also love presents! Both in the giving and receiving and even in taking the wrapping to Martha Stewart levels of serious craziness. Target will have a HUGE present travelling the country for the UnitingCare Christmas appeal (you can also leave presents under the tree at any Target store). The appeal aims to find 150,000(!) gifts for homeless teenagers, lonely elderly people, kids and families who need some kindness. The giant present will pop up today at 12pm to 1pm at Fed Square. Singers Cassie Davis and Adam Harvey will be performing to accompanying the spectacle.
This Saturday Kate Ceberano and new idol Stan Walker will take the present (I like to imagine it grows legs during the middle of the night and takes itself) to the beach near the St Kilda Sea Baths and perform from 12.30 to 1.30pm. Cute! Damien Leith did the same thing in Sydney recently thus the happy snap below.
