L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2010

“Forget your troubles c’mon get happy, you better chase all your cares away,” sang a jubilant Judy Garland in 1950. 60 years later, in March of next year, the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival will inspire us to do the same with their grin-inducing creative imagery for next year’s festival. With the mirth of the 2009 festival dampened by raging fires and a sodden economy they say this year it is time to truly emerge into a new era of optimism. The concept is joyful with an international flavour. Model Tina was born in Sudan, raised in Kenya, found refuge in New Zealand and is now making waves based in Sydney and stars in the campaign alongside Russian model Katya. They laugh their way through the series, some of the shots appearing almost as glorious out-takes.

At the festival launch (in Sydney!) yesterday two ambassadors were also revealed. Twins Olivia and Miriam Nervo will be the dual faces of the festival. The pair, with a background in modelling, are musically inclined; dj-ing, producing and writing songs for the likes of Kelly Rowland, David Guetta (“When Love Takes Over”), Britney Spears, Roger Sanchez, Armin Van Buuren, one of my fave’s Sophie Ellis-Bextor and even the Pussy Cat Dolls and Hannah Montana! Watch out for the pair, who were originally raised in Ivanhoe and now base themselves among the leading lights of New York and London, in Melbourne during the festival March 14th to 21st 2010.

Only 146 days to go!
