I’ve been happily watching developments lately as Tahlia Coker revamps accessories label Crochetta. Their latest range of jewellery in particular caught my eye. An entire zoo of animals feature as motifs; from buffalo to birds, seahorses and even an impala on my favourite necklace.
Earthy stones and cord – in place of the usual chains – complement the pieces. The designs would look at home as much on safari as they would during a fiesta celebration or at the beach. The line meshes Elke Kramer’s carnivalesque colours with offbeat shapes the likes of which Ugly Betty might proudly sport. I just might be tempted to pop into their Porter St, Prahran boutique next week for a closer look.
