Short & Sweet Style Wrap #17

Launching in August, Bloom will release four new shades of mineral lipstick which means no artificial colours. Hardworking hues include a soft pink (Charleston), raspberry red (Swing), latte (Ragtime) and deep purple (Foxtrot). They include moisturisers like beeswax, jojoba, shea butter and calendula oil and flavours of vanilla and mandarin. They are even vegan!

This season, Fame Agenda on (level 2 of Melbourne Central) welcomes some new labels to the fold. You will soon discover Karen Walker, Lover, Stretsis, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Matina Amanita Jewellery and Ward and Wylie headpieces in store.

StyleCorp welcomes Jane Parker as their new head designer after her 25 years as co-founder and designer at Country Road. The corporate office-wear label also welcome Roger Grinstead as designer if you’d been wondering what he has been up to lately! I’m really looking forward to seeing their fresh approach to workwear which we will let you in on in coming days (I desperately need a new wardrobe for my own “daily grind” which isn’t as much of a grind as “best job in the world”).

Love the Spring Racing Carnival and have a bubbly personality? You can now enter to be the ‘Face of Caulfield’ for 2009. However you need to pre-register here by Monday! Trimapee are holding castings to find interesting people/model types for their next MSFW event. Ladies must be a size 8 to 10 and at least 5 foot 8”, guys you should be 6 foot tall at least and small to medium shirt size and a 28-32 bottom. If you have a unique look (ok, and are tall and slim) pop down to Pronto at Studio 6, 46 Regent Street in Richmond this Thursday at 4pm to try out.

Sportsgirl is always offering up freshly styled looks. Below are a couple of my faves from the latest batch. I’m always a sucker for silver and sparkle so this tunic dress is a winner for me. I’m also prone to wishful thinking so as an average height, curvy lady this ‘Stripe Maxi’ dress with horizontal bands is purely for my dreamtime list (unless I can find some super platform wedges). It’s a little bit nautical but looks so comfy-cool.

Will opera soon become fashionable? The Victorian Opera has recently seen Trelise Cooper design costumes for their version of Handel’s Xerxes.

After their successful addition of the desirable Selvedge denim to their range, Jeanswest is now also introducing Japanese denim in bootcut, a slimmer bootcut and straight leg versions for next season. For denim novices Japanese denim (like Evisu and Nudie use) purports to be superior than regular denim due to the use of traditional manufacturing techniques, natural dyes and attention to detail. The Jeanswest version can be yours for just $129.
