Short & Sweet Style Wrap #15

By stylemelbourne

Sportsgirl sportsgirl launches speak up forums have unveiled their own online interactive fashion community called Speak Up. There’s forums, photos, news and clothes to explore and talk about!

The Chambord Style Awards are back for 2009. The Style Awards are once again giving ten emerging Australian designers $1000 to create a gown based on ths years’ theme ‘cocktail’. The winner will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire, while the nine finalists will be auctioned for charity. The best part – anyone can apply to make the top ten here!

Bloom is having a warehouse sale with nothing over $15 on at 15-20 Cotter Street in Richmond next Friday (11-6) and Saturday (9-2) only. Perhaps you could score the same ‘Amour’ lipgloss that a certain visiting Hollywood movie star recently picked up for his daughter?

Kit welcomes Make Up artist Arianne Damboise (does that sound like a prettier Parisian version of that chick in ‘Medium’ to anyone else?) to our shores to share her beauty secrets. Over the past 20 years she has experience working with New York fashion week, red carpet celebrity appearances and in the upper echelons of Benefit. Kit is offering “Too Faced” fans the chance to book in for their own 45 minute “mini-lesson” with Arianne and the Kit team which will show you how to highlight and show off your best facial feature. Call1800 705 800 or visit Kit to book. It’s $45 pre-paid which is redeemable on products. Arianne will be at the Myer Chadstone Kit counter on Thursday 9th from 4-8pm, at the Myer Bourke Street Kit counter Friday 10th from 1-8pm and Kit Chapel Street on Saturday 11th from 1-5pm.

A new community market is launching this Sunday 5th (and every Sunday after) on the corner of Dorcas and Montague streets in South Melbourne. Local identity Father Bob is running the show and stalls will include, of course, fashion as well as art, craft, jewellery and fresh and gourmet foods.

Gorgeous cosmetics is running classes for non-makeup artists entitled ‘Makeup School 101′. No more bad face days! The classes welcome any ability level with the aim of showing you how to recreate a professionally finished look for yourself every day. The classes are run by appointment only (they can be one on one or in groups) and cost $150 which is fully redeemable on purchases. Plus if you book in July (for before September 30) you’ll receive a gift set of nine brushes. Call to book in at their Doncaster (03 9848 1411), Melbourne Central (03 9654 9422), Prahran (03 9521 1626) or South Melbourne (03 9699 3629) boutiques.

The next Round She Goes Pre-Loved Fashion Market is on this Sunday 5th from 10am to 3pm. It’s held at the Camberwell Centre 350 Camberwell Road. In Camberwell (if you hadn’t already guessed).
