Dressing for Autumn

They say “a change is as good as a holiday” and as we step into a new season a sense of excitement is in the air as we adjust our wardrobe to match. I’ve always felt the cooler seasons lent themselves to more elegant styles of dressing and a more luxurious look. This Autumn we’ll be wearing lush yet muted tones, an earthy floaty silhouette and layers upon layers of cosy, natural fabrics. Here’s some of our favourite pieces to add to your fashion rotation this season;

1. I love that this Country Road Ruffle top can be worn at work with a pencil skirt or at a cocktail bar with layers of glossy beads. It has the essence of Remi Kashou’s metallic creme gown with its tiered ruffles at the shoulders but translated for everyday wear. It’s a timeless piece without being boring so guaranteed that I’d wear it as a staple for years to come (pictured right).

2. Kit Willow has just opened her first Melbourne boutique in a return to her former hometown. So we’ve taken another look at her new collection with¬† its luxurious bohemian feel. This zebra print tunic style mini-dress would be great for layering with leggings and scarves. The print makes a subtle statement and the hue plays into the natural feel. It’s from Willow’s new ‘Sacred Trace’ collection (pictured below left).

3. I swear Metalicus keeps getting better season after season. This ‘Be Seen in the Scene’ tank dress is also great for layering and mixing and matching as the label always seems to intend for their pieces. The graphic fabric keep things interesting while the oyster tone of the dress can complement just about any accessory colour. Must pop in and visit my nearest Metalicus soon (pictured below centre left).

4. Another floaty top has been picked as I can’t really go past some sparkle during the milder season. Sportsgirl’s ‘Kaleidoscope’ blouse in a kaftan style features a smattering of sequins and is already sold out online so better get in quick. The brave can wear it as a dress but I’d be wearing it with dark denim jeans (pictured below centre right).

5. Locally designed label Kachel seems to come up with classic but youthful pieces with just a little something extra. Their new season collection is no different. I’ve chosen this silky ‘Emerald’ top due to its dark coloured print featuring winter leaves – so pretty appropriate to wear with a snuggly cardigan for a brisk afternoon stroll. The top also ties in with the elegant gothic trend coming through for our Autumn/Winter season (pictured below right).
