Flemington Fashions on the Field for Couples

Melbourne’s most glamorous and best dressed came out in full force for the Myer Fashion on the Field Couples Competition at Flemington on Saturday. Whilst the punters were watching the Super Saturday horse races, twenty-five couples bravely strutted their stuff on the Myer catwalk displaying a range of well-thought out and stylish outfits.

The hosts for the show were Mia Greeves from channel 7, and James Tobin from Sunrise. Mia was dressed in a gorgeous cream and leopard print  Jayson Brunsdon dress and hired Pascal pearls.

The contestants were not short of experienced and glamorous celebrity judges for their big day, with Rebecca Twiggly, Michael and Lindy Klim, Rachel Wells, and Dom Bagnato amongst them. One of the most eye-catching outfits of the day was worn by Lindy Klim, who wore a short, puffy purple satin dress and a simple black fascinator. She teamed this with some subtle polka dot black stockings and elaborate purple platform shoes with flower embellishments on the back.

James Tobin and all the male judges were dressed by judge and suit designer extraordinaire, Dom Bagnato.

As the contestants came out there were few similarities in style, and the outfits ranged from simple elegance to lavish extravagance. After the first round, the judges decided on seven finalists, who were given one more chance to impress. With the winners’ bag containing $16,000 worth of prizes from sponsors including Myer, Pentax, Saab and Moet and Chandon, there was certainly a lot up for grabs.

The second runner up was a young couple wearing a sophisticated pale blue and cream outfit adorned with pearls and lace, with gloves and an umbrella finishing off the Autumn look.

The first runner ups wore coordinating navy outfits, both with splashes of red and plaid, including a red felt fascinator.

The overall winners were relatively understated and wore one of the most simple outfits in the competition. The lady wore a  simple, loose navy chiffon dress and matching floral fascinator, whilst her partner was in a smart navy suit. Both wore Arthur Galan.
