GPO launches their program for LMFF ’09

You just know that the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival has officially kicked off, when major Melbourne venues in the CBD start putting on showcases! One such event was the ‘Designer Fashion Collective Official Launch’. Fancy name for what was essentially a preview of Autumn/Winter 09 collections by leading Melbourne’s GPO designers, against one of the best and most iconic backdrops our city has to offer, but fancy is exactly the term to describe the looks on offer. If you were lucky enough to be around Melbourne’s GPO on the morning of 11th March, you would have witnessed a return to the regal style and glamour of days gone by, heralded by the haunting live arias sung by soprano Kirsten McMillan. A small selection of models on the red carpet showcased the season’s key looks, which featured sumptuous floral dresses, plenty of stockings, and my personal favourite, long black gloves.  Personally responsible for dazzling us with flourishes of colour, texture and drama were noted GPO designers Lisa Ho, Belinda, Leona Edmiston, Nicolangela, Baccini and Hill and Arthur Galan of AG.

Melbourne GPO will host two fashion collective parades as previewed above this Tuesday 17th March at 12.30pm and 1.30pm. They are also having a VIP shopping night for one night only Tuesday evening from 6pm – 9pm with a plethora of special offers, discounts and with Leona Edmiston and the Karen Millen team instore. Check their site for more details.
