The Golden Age of Couture exhibition

If you haven’t heard about it already, the Bendigo Art Gallery has been fortunate enough to secure the Golden Age of Couture exhibition from the renowned Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It celebrates spectacular works of famed Parisian and London couturiers from the historic decade for fashion of 1947 – 1957. This showcase runs until the 22nd of March 2009 and is open daily from 10am to 5pm (entry is inexpensive too). Several days of the week see complimentary introductory tours available. 100 haute couture gowns are on display and many of the labels endure to this day…Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy.

Wednesday the 18th February sees a special guest speaker, Fiona Baverstock, an expert on vintage fashion discuss the past two centuries of fashion design from 10am with morning tea. So there’s an extra incentive to make the trip.

Milliner Serena Lindeman will be in for a chat on Friday the 13th February and StyleMelbourne favourites Gwendolynne Burkin and Richard Nylon will be visiting for a discussion on the 40’s and 50’s on Wednesday 25th February.  The gallery is located at 42 View Street, Bendigo.
