Puma Archive Uncovered

Just before the New Year broke Puma threw a gig/party in celebration of the launch of their new Puma Archive range of shoes. The Archive collection pays homage to classic designs and give them a modern twist and usually a dose of bright colour also. In keeping with this vein of though a handful of bands were asked to perform their own take on classic songs. Making covers modern, ironic or just plain reinvented. I love a good cover version…the bonus is you know all the words already and it can let you find something fresh in a song that you’d relegated to the back of your memory bank. There were actually two concerts one in Sydney, the other naturally in Melbourne. The only way to attend was to own a pair of Archives, get invited or to win your way in. I hear Melbourne’s Hi-Fi bar and ballroom was filled with the sounds of Children Collide, Cassette Kids, Hot Little Hands and Boy + Girl all doing covers and a few of their own tunes thrown in for good measure. The crowd looked as cool as they should, dressed in casual yet fashion-conscious street style (and wearing lots of rad sneakers I expect).
