We have crossed into a new and strange dimension now. Take Dame Edna; from Moonee Ponds housewife to Australian icon to, now, beauty muse. The Dame has joined the ranks of Dita Von Teese, Hello Kitty and Fergie and become the first Australian to inspire an international collection from beloved cosmetics brand MAC. With her (totally-natural-how-dare-you-suggest-otherwise) lilac hued tresses and cats eye spectacles, Dame Edna surely was a unique choice.
The range will include lipstick, eye shadow, lip gloss, highlighter and nail polish. Purple colours feature heavily as do touches of peach and pink. The names of each item are hilarious. How about adding Coral Polyp, Varicose Violet or Possum Nose Pink to your make up bag? It’s refreshing to see that MAC has a sense of humour and playfulness. In all seriousness I like the look of the pastel purple themed eye trios when used with a light touch and the nail lacquers.
The packaging is quirkily kitsch with mauve (more purple of course) backgrounds placed with the Dame’s famously camp red glasses. Adorable and can’t help but make you smile.
