Event - American Crew ‘Face Off’ with GQ and AG
Since 2003, men’s salon hair care label American Crew has been holding a competition called ‘Face Off’. It is fused with an art exhibition in order to discover which creative salons and stylists are producing original and artistic hairstyles for men. Each style from creative types across Australia is photographed and displayed in black and white and is set to be judged by US American Crew.
Their recent event was held at the Peninsula venue space in the Docklands with 700 industry guests, including Arthur and Mimi Galan (of AG) and Nick Smith from GQ magazine, attending and judging for themselves. Arthur Galan’s current AG Spring/Summer collection was showcased down the runway by Men’s Division models (the winning model receives a two year contract with the agency).
The three final winners are to be announced at another event here in February next year and will be whisked of the States for pampering at the Château Marmont Hotel, a photo shoot and editorial in Culture and GQ magazines. So for the winners it is kind of like America’s/Australia’s Next Top Hairstylist except with American Crew founder David Raccuglia instead of Tyra Banks.
