Side Show Design Grand Opening

Fairy floss, chocolate coated strawberries, cupcakes and popcorn decked out the tables as sparkling beverages flowed. Retro music played softly from the speakers and the walls are lined with gorgeous dresses, skirts, shirts, tees and other goodies. Walking into the Side Show Design store it felt as if we were stepping into a charming vintage boutique, yet Side Show Design has just opened this new store tucked away on the third floor of the bustling Melbourne Central.

Side Show’s eye catching lingerie range worthy of a nineteen thirties showgirl has already been a hit in stores such as ‘Smitten Kitten’, so it was time to step it up and bring the line to the heart of the city! Everything from cute day wear, party dresses and even adorable frilly pyjama shorts can be found in the new store, infused with distinct thirties, forties and fifties style. Glittering jewellery and accessories are also available in story, and they have even launched a men’s range to keep the boyfriends happy.

The creators behind it all are childhood friends Elizabeth and Merilyn. Inspired by the charm of the old traveling circuses, the team are now proud that their designs have brought something new and different (or perhaps old and different) to the Australian fashion industry. Starting as young designers supported by ‘Fashion Incubator’, Elizabeth and Merilyn have sewed their way to success as proved by their glamorous boutique launch this November. Each garment is hand sewn, frilled and bejeweled using colour, quality fabrics and intricate trimmings which are sure to be a show stopper on the streets.

You can find Side Show Design on Level 3, Shop 308 of Melbourne Central or head to their website for more information and stockists.
