‘Beauty in Bloom’ Book Launch

”In today’s super-charged world, there is a certain romance and ritual to applying makeup” – Natalie Bloom.

Sigh. I am such a disorganised person. My life runs (somehow) amid ordered chaos. So it is lovely to step into the Bloom store on Chapel street with its carefully cultivated objects lovingly strewn around the Bloom range…French perfume, Pantone colour swatches, Siren jewellery. It’s tranquil even when packed with a crowd. The store seems to be an outward projection of creator Natalie Bloom’s vision for her life. Much like her new book ‘Beauty in Bloom’. The pages are filled with things she finds inspirational and would like to share and surround herself with. In her own words it about things that make her “heart skip a beat”. She does include advice on skin care and beauty and her love for botanicals but it’s the collection of quotes and snippets of Natalie’s own life that are intriguing.

The store itself was decked out in celebration of the launch. A chandelier was fashioned from pages torn from the book. Quotes were typed on ragged paper and stuck to the exterior wall (people could take one as they stroll past and there were only a few remaining when I went wandering past a few days later). Copies of the book were giftwrapped with a thoughtful individual quote also and I instantly decided to steal the idea of putting up a pinboard as an inspiration wall. I also lusted after Natalie’s vintage silver Georg Jensen neckpiece from her grandmother.

The book itself would be a treasured thank you gift or valuable guidance for a young lady. Perhaps it won’t even move past your own coffee table? Rebecca Wetzler illustrates in that sketchy style I’m obviously so fond of with splashes of inky colour and the book appears to have pressed florals scattered among its pages.

Natalie Bloom will be instore at Myer Melbourne on Thursday the 4th of December signing copies of ‘Beauty in Bloom’ from 12- 2pm and then again at 5 – 7pm. StyleMelbourne has also been lucky enough to obtain a signed copy and will be giving it away to a loyal subscriber so click here for details.
