The Caulfield Cup Carnival is just days away from really starting to kick this year’s social racing season into gear. And then it’s only a trot, canter, and gallop away until the nation stops for our glorious Melbourne Cup. I think to be truly chic you have to be comfortable and also keep an air of mystery. It’s also time to go all our with hats and hard core fascinators (not just a little tuft of feathers in you hair) – that goes for the guys too. Your suit looks so much more complete with a hat. So I’ve been dreaming up a wish list of dresses for the days ahead and here they are;
1. I would give all my winnings away in a heartbeat for this Yeojin Bae dress. It is so good, that it is a finalist in the Caulfield Classic Style award. The white is just so crisp and the giant flower rosette is seasonally appropriate. It also quite backless so you can flash a little skin in an elegant way. (yeojinbae.com.au)
2. Melbourne label Kachel has created this perfectly bright frock if the day turns out to be scorcher. Called Makayla this version is in ‘waterlily’. I love the vibrant splashes of colour. (davidjones.com.au)
3. Leona Edmiston certainly knows how to make a dress. This one manages to tread the fine line between edgy and ladylike. Another dress to die for with its unique cut and print. (leonaedmiston.com)
(PS Wedges and chunky heels, not stilettos, are your best friend out on the lawns!)
