Men in Suits for Spring Racing

By stylemelbourne

Is there anything better than a man in a suit? Daniel Craig as 007 James Bond proves me 100% right. Spring racing time and Summer in general allows a new set of guidelines when it some to suiting up (ie. avoid black in the sweltering sun and try something a little more adventurous than a plain business suit); how about always hot French cuffs or a bright patterned lining? All this talk of spring racing outfits reminds me…I have absolutely nothing to wear to the Melbourne Cup carnival…so before I run out for some late night shopping here’s a few ideas for the boys or boyfriends who are after a little last minute guidance or inspiration. Now, what is a fashion ed. to wear?

1. Just in time for the Spring Racing Carnival to hit Dom Bagnato introduced his brand new ‘Sartoria’ service. I love the title of this unique tailoring idea. It takes about 3 weeks for your customised suit to be perfected to your own shape and style. Maybe this suit below could be your starting point for a luxurious ensemble made just for you? It’s light, will go fabulously with any bright pop of accent colour and the European styling is obvious. dombagnato.com.au

2. This Politix suit is slimline with just a little edge, due to the subtle check pattern, if straight-laced isn’t your style. I have a thing for grey and it doesn’t hurt that Mr. Harry Kewell is modeling the outfit either. The breast pocket is handy for accessorising with the floral emblem of each raceday (yes boys, this varies across each carnival event). politix.com.au

3. Finally, a real alternative to the tradition slacks and jacket combo. How about ditching the blazer altogether and cooling down with a sharply cut vest? It’s pretty daring as far as men’s style goes but the scooped neckline is fashion forward and basically it looks easy and comfortable (which is the best way to look good on a long day out). It’s from Tom, Dick and Harry. tomdickharry.com.au
